Global Traffic Jam: FAQs

ABOUT THE TRAFFIC JAM CAMPAIGN

What is the TRAFFIC JAM Campaign?

The TRAFFIC JAM Campaign unites bands and fans to stop child trafficking and slavery. Artists and individuals raise awareness and funding through events and personalized online campaign pages at MyTrafficJam. TRAFFIC JAM then forwards 100% of those funds to front-line trafficking prevention, rescue and aftercare organizations around the world.

How does TRAFFIC JAM choose what anti-trafficking organizations it supports?

TRAFFIC JAM's global partners have been very carefully vetted out through an extremely strict due diligence process that includes the evaluation of 1.) Measurable program effectiveness; 2.) Use of "Best Practices" standards of care; 3.) Governance, leadership and accountability structures; 4.) Financial integrity; 5.) General organizational and program sustainability; 5.) Overall impression and reputation; and 6.) In-depth site visits and interviews with leaders and practitioners. These partners, once approved, are then monitored through a high-accountability relationship with TRAFFIC JAM.

How is TRAFFIC JAM able to send 100% of public donations into the field?

Since inception, TRAFFIC JAM has sent 100% of donated public monies directly to projects, finding other ways to pay for staff, office and other operational costs. We simply raise those costs separately from individuals who understand the value and strategic nature of covering the "boring" stuff.

ABOUT THE GLOBAL TRAFFIC JAM

What is the Global Traffic Jam event on 11-11-11?

This amazing event is an amazing collaboration where over 300 artists from more than 30 nations are performing on November 11th, 2011 to raise awareness (and funds, if they so choose) to stop child trafficking and slavery.

Who can participate in the Global Traffic Jam?

YOU! If you're a solo artist or in a band, YOU can participate! If you own or manage a music venue (or place that could host a musical event), YOU can participate! If you know somebody who's in a band or is a solo performer, YOU can participate? Whatever role you have, YOU can put together a show (or simply incorporate a two-minute message into an existing show) to help jam up child trafficking!

How does TRAFFIC JAM help me with my 11-11-11 event?

We want YOU to be successful so the global event and overall cause is successful! To that end we'll:

What can be better than that? Free exposure as part of a global event, PLUS the ability to really help create awareness for the cause of freedom!

I already have a gig or event on 11-11-11 (or I know somebody that already has a gig or event on 11-11-11.) What can I do to be a part of the Global Traffic Jam?

That's easy! We'll help you insert the Traffic Jam message into your/their gig. The tools listed above will be at your disposal and you'll be considered a full participant in the Global Traffic Jam event.

I can't get a venue for 11-11-11?

No problem. Consider your home or a friend's home for a more intimate affair. Open up the garage door and let the tunes ring out. Have a block party. Play unplugged on the beach or at local park. It's November, so you might want a bonfire gathering somewhere. Think outside the box. We'll promote your event and give you publicity, no matter where it is.

I can't get the whole band together for 11-11-11?

No problem. Consider an unplugged or bare bones event. If you're missing your singer, how about an instrumental show, guest vocalist, or open mike session. You could also join members of another local band or incomplete band for the event. Make it a collaborative affair!

FUNDRAISING

Am I required to fundraise for the TRAFFIC JAM Campaign as part of the 11-11-11 event?

No, but we hope you will. You or your artist will be required to set up a personalized page at MyTrafficJam. Here, the band's name, logo and photo can be uploaded, as well as some information about the 11-11-11 gig. There is some default language there also about the issue of child trafficking around the world. You can e-mail this page to your friends and fans to let them know about your participation in the global event. If you don't wish to include the fundraising portion, but still wish to be involved as an advocate, you can just set the fundraising goal to zero. Please remember, TRAFFIC JAM doesn't keep ANY of the funds. We send them ALL into the field to make a difference in rescuing children.

If I choose to fundraise, can I choose what country or organization the funds I raised can go to?

It is far easier and effective for us to combine and assign funds based on the amounts raised and the where they are needed most. However, we will strongly consider requests for funds to go to specific countries, types of projects, or approved organizations.
